Playing with Gator
The mutt got brought Gator with her on the walk yesterday, so we did some fetchy-catch behind the building next door. Until she started creeping towards the other side of the building where the street is.
Her recall is fine in the shop (there's always a kibble or chickeny bit at the end) but there are a lot of distractions outside, and the Doggeh Padre does not always have a treat, so I re-leashed her as soon as she came back.
Vet appointment today. 4 month shots.

Poohenge
Being a new dog owner, I'm not sure if this is typical or unique.Whilst enjoying our excursions (for both exercise and bio-needs), Stella has adopted the following dance:
1. Bombs away.
2. Run away from initial impact point, while constrained by leash. Approximately 5 feet away,
3. Second delivery, run, run, run,
4. Repeat as necessary.
This leaves The Padre at the center of a poo circle. I'm assuming it's the flip side of the Border Collie "put-all-the-good-stuff-in-one-place" coin.

First night at home
This was back in April. She was so quiet and nervous when we got home that, as a new doggeh padre, I was sure she was scarred for life by the trauma of being plucked from the litter and transported down 280 in a squealing turbo Audi.
Then I put her kennel pad on my legs, plopped the girl in it, and everyone got to chill for a bit.

Early Days
Stella was born to Fancy (a 25lb "mini"-schnauzer-ish dog) and Panda (a Border Collie/Aussie Shepherd cross, who looked all-Border Collie except the naturally-docked tail). Stella looked nothing like either of them, and if it weren't for the naturally-docked tail on Panda matching three of the puppies, I wouldn't have believed Panda was the dad.
She's the little brown one.
The family had already named the puppies, and I liked the name Stella so I kept it.
I'll save the story of the weekend-of-Stella-acquisition for another day.

The Stella
This will be the story of raising Stella, my Aussie Shepherd/Schnauzer/Border Collie puppy.
All the dog training books say you should only use your dog's name, and never a nickname. But over the past couple of weeks she has picked up The Stella, Good Doggeh (good), Dorkbot (silly), Dorklump (tired and floppy), Sleepy Duck (sleepy), and Kung Pao Doggeh (very naughty).
I adopted her at 8 1/2 weeks, and she's 14 weeks old now.
